Linux Support for AMC 440SP / 440SPe Processors

DENX provides support for the AMCC 440SP and 440SPe processors starting with Linux 2.6.15-rc2, which is available immediately from our git repository and FTP server. This version was tagged as DENX-2005-12-03-2208. Ready-to-run binary images for AMCC's Eval Kits (Luan and Yucca) are available on our FTP server.

Linux 2.6.14 available

Linux kernel version 2.6.14 is available immediately from our git repository and FTP server. It includes support especially for AMCC's Eval Kits (Bamboo, Bubinga, Ebony, Ocotea, Sycamore, Walnut, Yellowstone, Yosemite). Ready-to-run binary images for these boards are available on our FTP server.

Support for Linux 2.6 Kernel

DENX now also supports a Linux 2.6 Kernel tree for embedded systems. It is based on the latest public kernel tree (Linux 2.6.14-rc3). A first version is available immediately from our git repository and FTP server. It includes support especially for AMCC's Eval Kits (Bamboo, Bubinga, Ebony, Ocotea, Sycamore, Walnut, Yellowstone, Yosemite).

This Linux 2.6 Kernel tree will be the base for our new Embedded Linux Development Kit (ELDK) Release 4.0, which will be released within the next few weeks.

DENX will continue to support our Linux 2.4 kernel, too.

QT/Embedded for TQM5200 with accelerated SM501 graphics driver

DENX Software Engineering provides support for QT/Embedded Free Edition on the TQM5200 board with an accelerated SM501 graphics driver.

Documentation how to build the software can be found in the README.qte-3.3.4-tqm5200-sm501 file on our FTP server. The required patch is also available there.

Many customers ask for support of Linux Kernel version 2.6 for their embedded projects. They are surprised when we tell them that we don't recommend to use Linux 2.6 for most embedded systems.

The document "Comparing Linux 2.4 and Linux 2.6 Kernels" explains the reasons. Here is a short Management Summary:

New PEAK CAN (PCAN) Driver for the MSCAN on MPC5200 Processors

DENX provides a port of the recent version (3.17) of the PEAK CAN Linux driver (see http://www.peak-system.com/linux/index.htm) for the MSCAN controller of the MPC5200 processors. Please see the README.peak-mpc5200 file on our FTP server
